Anthony Head has been in the limelight since the 1970s. In 1978, he and Su Pollard played one of his earliest parts in the musical Godspell. Anthony Head made his television debut the same year as Clive Martel, a member of the island resistance, in the London Weekend Television programme Enemy at the Door. Again, He sang background vocals for the band Red Box in the early 1980s. He also appeared on Two Way’s 1983 album Face in the Window.

In the 1990–1991 West End version of The Rocky Horror Show at London’s Piccadilly Theatre, The English star portrayed Frank N.
