Russell Mehta’s father, Arunkumar Ramniklal Mehta was a prominent Indian businessman known for his leadership in the family-owned conglomerate, Rosy Blue, which operated in both Belgium and India.
He was born on the 9th of January, 1940 in Patan, Gujarat, India to Ramniklal Mehta, a well-known figure in the diamond industry. In 1960, along with his brothers, Harshad and Dilip, and his sister, he co-founded B. Arunkumar & Co. in Mumbai, along with his maternal uncle Bhanuchandra Bhansali. Over time, this company grew into Rosy Blue, one of India’s top six diamond companies.
Arunkumar served as the chairman of Rosy Blue(India) and he was a founding member of the Diamond Exporters Association Limited, where he held the position of Vice-President. He also contributed as a member of the Managing Committee of the Bharat Diamond Bourse and The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council, where he served for two decades. In recognition of his significant contributions to the industry, he was honoured with the Lifetime Achievements Award in 2007 by The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council.
Today, Arunkumar’s son, Russell Mehta, leads Rosy Blue (India) Pvt. Ltd.
Unfortunately, Russell’s father passed away on the 14th June, 2020 at the age of 80 in Mumbai, India at the Sir. H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital.
