Caitlin Clark is only 22 years old but she is already considered one of the best players in women’s college basketball. After finishing her junior year at the University of Iowa, she declared for the 2022 WNBA Draft. Clark led the nation in points and assists during the 2021-2022 season but her rise to fame started earlier.

Caitlin Clark’s Parents 

She was born on the 22nd of January, 2002 in Des Moines, Iowa to parents Brent and Anne Nizzi-Clark. Growing up, her father Brent was one of her biggest supporters and coaches from a young age. He helped hone her basketball skills even before she entered elementary school.

Both of her parents played college basketball which no doubt influenced Caitlin to take up the sport from an early age. Their encouragement and her natural talent helped Clark develop into one of the best high school players in Iowa history.

Caitlin Clark’s Educational Background

After a storied high school career at West Des Moines where she was an excellent player for Dowling Catholic High School, Caitlin decided to continue her academic and athletic pursuits at the University of Iowa.

During her time at the University of Iowa, Caitlin Clark established herself as one of the most dominant college basketball players in the country.  She made an impact for the Hawkeyes Women’s Programme as a freshman in 2019-2020. 

Clark won Big Ten Freshman of the Year honours after averaging 18.5 points per game. Over the next two seasons, she broke the program’s all-time scoring record and helped lead Iowa to unprecedented success. In 2022, Clark was NCAA Tournament MVP as a junior after averaging 27 points per game on her way to being selected first overall in the 2022 WNBA Draft by the New York Liberty.
