Born as Caitlin Elizabeth Clark on the 22nd of January, 2002, in Des Moines Iowa, Caitlin began playing basketball at the age of five, initially joining boys in her recreational leagues due to the lack of girl’s options in her age group. Aside from basketball, she participated in other sports disciplines, including softball, volleyball, soccer, tennis and golf before focusing exclusively on basketball.
Clark attended Dowling Catholic High School, where she excelled in varsity basketball for four years under coach Kristen Meyer. Her high school career was marked by many notable achievements including averaging 15.3 points, 4.7 assists and 2.3 steals per game in her Freshman Year to averaging 33.4 points, leading her team to the regional finals in her finals. She finished high school career with 2,547 points, ranking among Iowa’s all-time leading scorers. She received my awards, including Iowa Gatorade Player of the Year and Iowa Miss Basketball.
