Dwayne Johnson Ethnicity

Dwayne Johnson was born to a Samoan mother and a Black Nova Scotia father. His lineage reflects a rich blend of Samoan and African-Canadian heritage.

Samoans are Polynesian people with a distinct cultural identity. They originate from the Samoan Islands in the South Pacific, which are politically divided into two entities: the independent nation of Samoa and the United States territory of American Samoa. Key aspects of Samoan culture include traditional dance, music and tattooing.

The Black Nova Scotians on the other hand, are descendants of African individuals who arrived in Nova Scotia, Canada through the historical events of the transatlantic slave trade and later migrations. Many Black Nova Scotians have roots tracing back to the late 18th century when the British offered freedom to enslaved people who sided with them during the American Revolutionary War. Others arrived as Loyalists or refugees during the War of 1812.
