Bryant was born into a well known family in Houston, Texas. Her father, Curtis Graves, was a political and civil rights activist, and her mother, Joanne Graves, was a businesswoman. Gizelle graduated with a degree in marketing from Hampton University. She moved to Baltimore, Maryland, after graduating from College.

She married Jamal Bryant, an American author and minister in 2002 and divorced in 2009. Jamal is a well-known preacher and was the founder of Empowerment Temple AME Church. She is the mother of three adorable daughters, Grace, Adore and Angel.

Born in Houston, Texas on the 25th of February, 1939, Curtis Graves was a well-known American politician and civil rights activist. He was opportune to serve in the Texas House of Representatives from 1967 to 1973.
In 1967, Graves got chosen to work in the Texas House of Representatives. He was the first Black person in more than 100 years to represent his district. He did this for two terms and was famous for his strong speeches and his dedication to making things fair for everyone.
Graves was also a good friend of Martin Luther King Junior. They met in 1962 and became friends quickly. He supported King’s work and joined many of the fights for civil rights in the 1960s.

In 1973, Gizelle Bryant’s father left his job in the Texas House to run for the United States House of Representatives. He didn’t win the election but he still worked hard for fairness. He established a group known as the Graves Consulting Group, which helped businesses and groups promote diversity and inclusion. He also served on the boards of directors of several non-profit organisations.
Gizelle’s mother on the other hand, Joanne Graves is a businesswoman who owned and operated many businesses in Houston, Texas. She is also a strong advocate for women’s rights. She is a private person hence not much is known about her. In an interview with Bravo TV, Gizelle said, “My mom is my biggest cheerleader. She’s always there for me, no matter what. She’s my best friend.”
The couple were parents to two children, Gizelle and her brother, Chris. While her mother is alive, her father, Curtis Grave died at the ripe age of 84 on the 17th July, 2023
