Known to be one of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s greatest goalkeepers Nikola Vasilj is a professional football player who plies his trade in Germany with FC St Pauli in the 2nd division of the Bundesliga (also known as 2. Bundesliga).

Vasilj started playing football in 2010 with his boyhood club at Zrinjski Mostar, he made his professional debut as a player in 2013 with  Željezničar. He was actually 17 years when he gained his first professional call up. In the years 2014 to 2015 Vasilj made a couple of loan transfers between Igman Konjic and Branitelj.

He later signed with FC Nurnberg, Germany in 2017 and later joined Ukranian side Zorya Luhansk in 2019. He finally singed with his current club FC St. Pauli in 2021 where he has had a tremendous spell at the club over the years.

In 2021 Vasilj received his first senior national team call up for the 2022 Fifa World Cup qualifiers after featuring in Bosnia’s under 21 national team for some time.
