His mother was born in Sicily, Italy, and immigrated to the United States at age 13. His family’s farm is visited during an episode in Jersey Shore’s. He graduated from Susan E. Wagner High School and later studied at SUNY New Paltz before transferring to the College of Staten Island, graduating with a degree in political science. He had planned on going to a law school. After leaving university, he focused on furthering his career in the world of politics and was the political aide for Democratic Staten Island state assemblyman Michael Cusick.
