Born as Goldie Jeanne Hawn, Goldie is a well known American actress, film director and producer who rose to prominence on the NBC sketch comedy programme, Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In which aired from 1968 to 1970.

She has her high school education at Montgomery Blair High School. She started taking ballet and tap dance lessons when she was three and danced in the Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo production of The Nutcracker at age ten. 

She dropped out of American University where she was majoring in drama and worked as a professional dancer in New York, and New Jersey. Hawn’s acting career started when she was discovered by a producer while performing in her maiden stage performance in 1964, where she took the role of Juliet in a Shakespearean Festival Production of Romeo and Juliet.

She gained recognition for her role in Cactus Flower for which she won the Academy Award and Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress.

Other comedic films she has starred in includes, “There’s a Girl in My Soup”, “The Sugarland Express”, “Shampoo”, “Butterflies Are Free”, “Seems Like Old Times”, “Private Benjamin”, “Foul Play” and many others.

In 1997, she directed a film known as “Hope” which is a historical drama set amid the early 1960s paranoia manufactured by the Cuban Missile Crisis and the growing restlessness of the Civil Rights Movement. She is also the founder of The Hawn Foundation, which educates underprivileged children.
